Introduction

The Policy and Research element of SCCYP’s work helps the Commissioner keep an eye on what’s happening in the Scottish Parliament (e.g. looking at which new laws may affect children & young people’s rights) and commissions and publishes research into issues that are important to children and young people.

It also looks at the policies and practices of organisations and government bodies to ensure that they’re consulting with young people on issues that affect them and working in a child and young person friendly way.

We provide an information & signposting service to adults, including parents, grandparents, teachers, social workers, doctors and children’s rights officers etc. This means that if someone calls us with a problem, we can use our knowledge to find the information they need or suggest who might be best able to help.
