Campaigning
Getting people to join together to take action.
Capacity
The ability of individuals, organisations and societies to do things.
Children in need
A child or young person is said to be in need if they do not have the chance to have a good standard of health or their growth is affected unless the local authority do something to help out. A child or young person is also said to be in need if they are disabled.
Communities of Interest
People who come together based on common interest, such as disability, who do not necessarily live in the same neighbourhood, as opposed to communities of geography who live in the same area.
Community Engagement
Developing and sustaining a working relationship between one or more public body and one or more community group, to help them both to understand and act on the needs or issues that the community experiences.
Community Groups and Organisations
Organised groups of people located within neighbourhoods or across a number of interests. They are controlled by their users and are often small and informal with no paid staff. They are often referred to collectively as the community sector.
Consultation
A two-way communication process designed to find out what people think about a range of issues or ideals.
